Bunk Bed

Unlike shopping other furnitures, buying a bunk bed is a little different because it involves your children. A bunk bed is an economic and space saving solution to you but your kids will view it as their own private space. So it may involve more steps.

When you consider buying a bunk bed, space most likely becomes an issue. So measure the space first and see how much you have for the bunk bed. When considering a loft or bunk bed, ceiling height is extremely important so don’t forget to measure up! Bunk beds and loft beds vary in height, but the average bunk stands between 5½ to 6 feet tall. You want to make sure there is at least two feet of space between the top bunk and your ceiling – this will cut down on unnecessary bumps and bruises.

A standard bunk usually has the same size as a regular or full size bed. And bunk bed come in a variety of options – with trundle beds, storage drawers, desks, in T-shapes or in L-shapes – and can safely hold anywhere from two to four kids. It’s important to keep in mind that the more elaborate the set up, the more space you will need.

There are many types of bunk beds. Some of them are listed here:

* Basic Bunk Bed: this is a classic bed with the features most people need. It is available in Twin over Twin, Twin over Full, or Full over Full sizes.

* Futon Bunk Bed: It is usually a twin size bed over a futon. The multi-purpose design offers allows you to use the futon as a couch during the day and a full size bed at night. It creates a casual atmosphere for popular rooms known to attract guests.

* Tri / Triple Bunk Bed: one bunk bed attached to a third, lofted bed. This L-shaped design is perfect for three children sharing a room or for large sleepovers.

* T-Shaped Bunk Bed: one lofted bed with a bottom bunk that runs perpendicular to the top one. It provides the same amount of sleeping space as a basic bunk bed, but with a fresh, new look. An ideal design for rooms with a bit more space!

* Basic Loft Bed: a basic loft design consists of one bed suspended over an open space.

* Junior Loft: perfect for younger children who aren’t old enough to climb all the way to a regular sized top bunk. Many feature fun additions like tents and slides!

* Study Loft:  It allows you to fit a lot more into a small space; with this design you won’t need to factor in space for a desk.

* Novelty beds: geared more towards younger children, novelty bunk or loft beds center around a certain theme, or in some cases simply a vibrant color scheme. Many novelty beds, like junior loft beds, are closer to the ground and feature tents and slides.
